LOVE HER WILD: Camping Leader

DYO is partnering with Love Her Wild on a shared mission to support and encourage more women into outdoor leadership. We are offering this 1 day course for those seeking to gain their Camping Leader qualification.  You'll have the benefits of training as part of an all female group with the supportive LHW ethos.

Camping Leader is for people who want to supervise a camping group and teach campcraft activities. The course is both training and assessment rolled into one day, although we recommend you complete the online training beforehand to get the most from your experience. We will cover leadership and group management, camping equipment, food and cooking! You'll have lots of chance to ask questions, get to know and learn from other Wilders with similar interests! We will bring our own kit (there is the potential to hire/borrow anything you don't have) and have space to set up tents, fire up the camp stoves, be inspired by group discussions. At the end of the course, you'll receive feedback and advice on how to further develop yours skills as an outdoor leader. 

There may be the potential to camp overnight once the course is finished - if so, this will be arranged individually with the venue. 

Before attending this course:

• You must be at least 18 years old.
• You must be registered with Mountain Training for the scheme
• You must have logged a minimum of five overnight camps and be an experienced self-sufficient camper
• You must have assisted with or overseen at least two group camps
• You must be familiar with the syllabus.
• You must have completed an in person 8hour+ first aid course.
• You will have ideally completed the online training.
